Burning Spear was Winston 'Spear' Rodney. The name Burning Spear was given to Jomo Kenyatta, who became president of Kenya. Another of those many odd coincidences is that at one time he lived in Manchester. The Blue Note Club in Manchester did play such tracks, following on from the Twisted Wheel's predilection for Ska and Blue Beat.
