The Four Pennies

Juliet - a number one hit (UK)

Black Girl (LeadBelly)

A British sixties group, very much in the mould of The Hollies. Black Girl was considered a controversial song when it was released due to its hint of prostitution.

The groups's other claim to fame was that the lead singer, Lionel Morton was married to the actress Julia Foster who was ubiquitous at the time. She latter went on to star in a TV dramatisation of Fanny Hill.

One of the early acts at the Old Wheel; Brazennose Street Manchester.
