Holland Dozier Holland: undervalued, underpaid, under the thumb at Motown so they all left and formed their own labels INVICTUS and HOT WAX in 1968/9 where they had big hits with Chairmen Of The Board. Next they signed Freda Payne, who then had the massive hit Band Of Gold on the Label.
HDH Sued Berry Gordy for lost royalties at Motown and won. Eddie Holland had a career as an artist before his writing career at Motown and Lamont Dozier went on to become an artist after his Motown/Invictus writing career.
