They grew up in Gary, Indiana were their father, Joe Jackson, in 1966 started them out as a group act.

1969 signed to Motown after Diana Ross saw them perform. Their first four singles, I Want You Back, ABC, The Love You Save, and I'll Be There, all went to number one in the USA.

1972 Michael Jackson and Jermaine Jackson became solo acts.

1974 Dance Machine was the last big hit for the remaining group.
