Film & Soundtracks

There are many a great film made greater by its selection of songs to accompany it.

In this new section we explore some of these films and the tracks that made them.

Dream Girls

2006 brought the movie adaptation of the broadway musical Dreamgirls, featuring a line up of Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx to name but a few.

It follows the ambitious climb to fame of a girl group the "The Dreams" based upon The Supremes,  James Brown and the tough business that is show business.

The soundtrack is excellent with a real 60's/70's feel. Jennifer Hudson steals the show with stunning vocals throughout as does Beyonce. Eddie Murphy is pretty decent singer too and gives a great performance.

If you love The Supremes, which this is loosely based around you will love this film and the album.

Jackie Brown

Not only is this an excellent film, with a star studded cast, inluding Pam Grier, De Niro And Samiel L Jackson, the soundtrack is one of the best.

Tarantino Directs his tamest film and putting aside his love of violence, whilst keeping his love of strong female characters blends his deep love of Soul music, in particular referencing one of his all tiem favourite bands the Delfonics, with 'didn't i blow your mind this time'.
